Skilling 4.0: A report on ‘Digital Readiness’ by People Matters and Simplilearn

The modern workplace is undergoing transformation due to swiftly evolving technologies. As per the World Economic Forum, the integration of machines, humans, and algorithms will generate a minimum of 133 million new jobs, necessitating a mix of technical, creative, and problem-solving skills for these emerging roles.

To understand companies' progress on their digital transformation, People Matters and Simplilearn initiated a survey titled "Skilling 4.0 – A Study on Digital Readiness." The study draws insights from 82 companies regarding the methods top organisations employ to align employee learning initiatives with their digital business objectives. Additionally, it reveals the approaches companies take toward digital upskilling.

The study is divided into three parts:

  1. The importance and readiness of digital skills as part of an organisation’s core objectives.
  2. Key strategies and approaches to tackle challenges with digital skilling.
  3. How organisations are defining the success of their own teams’ digital skills.
